Context Block Limits

Some people may see our 13.5k character limit (Legend tier) and compare them to a 32k token context limit that some of our competitors have and think that we are offering less context than others. We totally understand where the confusion comes from, but this is not the case! Even on our free / starter plans, we often spend more tokens per message than our competitors’ highest limits.

The key thing to understand is that our Context Block Limits ≠ Total Context Used. The context block limit is simply a limit of one piece of your total context pie. In addition to your context blocks, we also provide plot & plan, scene context, and part of the chat history to Franz’s narration step. Franz’s narration step is still only part of the pie - we spend a ton of tokens to automatically manage your context blocks and handle game state updates.
